Tissue Culture Academy

Preparing mother material for a tissue culture feasibility review

A strong tissue culture project begins before plant material reaches the laboratory. Good preparation improves traceability and makes early technical decisions easier.

Prepare the identity

Record the species, cultivar, source and ownership status. Use a simple internal code if the commercial name is confidential.

Prepare the plant

Select actively growing material where possible. Photograph the plant, record recent pest or disease concerns and avoid mixing samples from different sources without clear labels.

Prepare the commercial brief

State whether the priority is preservation, cleaning up a valuable line, pilot multiplication or commercial-scale supply. Include the desired delivery format and realistic volume range.
